Grant signed us up for a cooking class in Puerto Vallarta – on a mountain! We were picked up in town (8 of us) in a van and proceeded to traverse some very windy roads (and rocky – even worse due to rain) pretty much straight up for 20+ minutes. We arrive at a lovely old villa with gorgeous views and were met with margaritas (with salt & chili rims).
We then proceeded to cook some pork and chicken in pots on an open wood fire grill – and roast some tomatoes (and what they call “green tomatoes” and I call tomatillos :-), onion, garlic and peppers:
We made salsa in the molcajete, guacamole, pork tostadas and chicken enchiladas
Then tequila education and tastings (including why the commercial ones give you headaches) and just chillin’ for a bit (loved the apron touch)
The sun sets and we head home – what a way to end a day that started with that breakfast on the beach and a couple hours of sun! The road seemed far less scary.
Perfect Day in Puerto Vallarta!!
